Yoga Shala Papagayo

about.

Situated within the Papagayo Sports Complex in Costa Rica, the Yoga Shala represents the final and most complex iteration of a structural triad born from an evolutionary algorithm based on triangular geometry.

Spanning 190 square meters, the bamboo canopy reinterprets the physics of a tensile structure. Composed of three triangles arranged in a trapezoidal formation, its fluid silhouette is defined by a series of peaks and valleys generated through advanced structural simulation.

The construction system features a double triangular bamboo grid, reinforced by glued laminated bamboo strip beams and anchored by structural round bamboo at critical load points. A high-performance Serge Ferrari membrane shields the exposed bamboo framework from the elements, creating a shaded, breathable sanctuary that invites users to fully immerse themselves in the tropical environment.
